Semrush maintain momentum by re-imagining the brand, business, and tools.

There has been plenty of talk on re-imagining the world in the Post-Covid era, but Content Marketing giants Semrush aren’t waiting around for directions.

Amid a Pandemic, the company continues its rapid growth with new branding and corporate acquisitions. Indeed, in 2020, Inc. Magazine added Semrush to its list of America’s fastest-growing private companies.

Acquisition of Prowly.com

Semrush made a big move in September 2020 with the acquisition of Polish Public Relations company Prowly.com.

Prowly.com provides PR solutions and campaign management to clients, with a database of over a million media contacts and influencers at their disposal.

The acquisition allows Semrush to integrate any number of their content marketing tools to Prowly.

Integrations with SEMrush can help Prowly users understand the SEO value of their PR activities. Further, we expect to add SEMrush content marketing tools to Prowly, offering users enhanced PR measurement capabilities and the ability to understand their overall brand health online.

My Name Is… Semrush

Were you an S.E.M. Rush or a Semrush advocate? Well, the choice is no longer yours.

It’s over. Yes, the pronunciation battles of how to say “Semrush” are at an end.

Semrush is the answer

The big news is that the company has gone with the latter option. It’s official.

The pronunciation battle is over. Next time you wonder how to pronounce “Semrush”, think of the simplest possible way to do that: pronounce it as one word. We believe that the more simple the better. But it was fun to watch you guys debate over how to say it every single time

New Branding

The evolution of Semrush from 2008 to the present day is one of the Internet’s success stories.

Back in 2008, 75% of internet users were browsing the web with Microsoft Internet Explorer. Semrush was a boutique SEO tool with a small but loyal user base.

Semrush website from 2009.

One of those tools headed North on popularity, the other South. Anyway, enough of the nostalgia trip. I don’t think many of us shed too many tears for IE6.

Today, Semrush is a platform with over 50 tools for SEO, content marketing, advertising, social media, digital PR, and competitor research.

The toolset had evolved with features constantly added, but the branding and visual identity wasn’t keep up. It had become inconsistent, and 2020 was the time to catch up.

Today, when Semrush has over 50 tools for SEO, content marketing, advertising, social media, digital PR and competitor research, we realized that it’s time. It’s time to give the Semrush brand a makeover to capture its essence and unique character.

Oleg Shchegolev, CEO and Founder

The Semrush internal design team teamed up with the Shuka Brand Bureau to develop the new branding. The design guide brief was to reflect the company’s current size, ethos, and position.

The Semrush Identity:

ENERGETIC.
Semrush is the driving force behind your marketing, captured in dynamic visuals of flames and fire. And the energy of our active voice and positive language empowers our users to become better marketers.

FRIENDLY.
Semrush is a friendly brand. It shows in a warm and informal tone we use to speak to our customers. And in simple rounded shapes that accompany our visuals.

BOLD.
We are the leaders in our field. The innovators. The enthusiasts. Our confident voice paired with bold backgrounds, shapes, and typography can’t but grab our audience’s attention.

The collaborative team went to work, and we are now witnessing the outputs.

Logo

The Semrush fireball is still with us, albeit in a new visual format. The fireball stands for a spark that ignites the engine of your marketing.

By retaining the fireball, the new logo keeps the historical link back to the beginning of the company’s journey.
